Early childhood educators gather in Hamar, Norway for a focused workshop organised by Universitetet i Innlandet as part of the TAPPEO project on April 20-21st 2026. The event centres on strengthening understanding and practice in plurilingual pre-school settings.

The programme begins with an introduction to key concepts of plurilingualism and multilingualism, helping participants build a shared understanding of terminology and context. The facilitators then link scientific perspectives to language development, grounding everyday teaching practices in research.

The presenters highlight the PolskaNorski project, which explores how Polish families in Norway learn Norwegian. Drawing on cognitive linguistics, they demonstrate how different types of talk and everyday activities can support children’s language development in meaningful ways.

In the afternoon, participants engage in hands-on science activities that foster both cognitive and language skills, showing how practical exploration enhances communication and learning in early childhood settings.

The organisers conclude the workshop by sharing insights from TAPPEO’s Work Package 2, presenting emerging findings from questionnaires and best practices across contexts. Overall, the event gives educators concrete ideas and research-based approaches to support plurilingual development in pre-schools.
